Science Department Goals:
- By the end of semester 1, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to ask rigorous questions related to scientific phenomena as demonstrated by student work samples from phenomenon/ inquiry lesson demonstrations.
- By the end of semester 1, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to analyze data/information and generate evidence to help explain the phenomenon in question as demonstrated by analysis within unit CFA
- By the end of semester 1, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to use mathematical skills (graphing, averages, stoichiometry, dimensional analysis, formulaic calculations, etc) to represent physical variables, their trends and patterns as demonstrated within CFAs and lab write-ups.
- By the end of semester 1, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to explain and argue scientific phenomena using claims, evidence and reasoning as demonstrated during phenomenon revists, labs, and CFAs.
- By the end of semester 1, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to create, explain, analyze, and apply models to explain scientific phenomena as demonstrated by student lesson work, CFAs, and projects.
- By the end of semester 2, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to write and present scientific concepts to demonstrate their understanding as demonstrated by lab reports, group project/presentations to class, concept map summaries, written responses to Learning Objective/Essential Questions.
- By the end of semester 2, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to read scientific text in order to extract scientific concepts and evidence as demonstrated by class discussion, Think/Write/Pair/Share, and implementing lab protocols.
- By the end of semester 2, 75% of students in Regular Science and 90% of Accel/Honors Science students will be able to perform lab experiments and demonstrate their understanding of the scientific concepts through lab reports containing detailed conclusions.
